MIPI CSI-2 Camera Modules (also known as MIPI Camera Modules, CSI-2 Camera Modules, or MIPI CSI-2 Board Camera Modules) are compact, integration-ready board cameras that combine a CMOS image sensor, optics, and supporting circuitry on a small PCB, outputting high-speed video through the MIPI CSI-2 (D-PHY) interface for direct connection to mainstream embedded SoCs. Compared with USB cameras, MIPI CSI-2 camera modules are better suited for embedded designs that prioritize size, power, latency, and tight system integration, helping shorten EV/DT bring-up and improve production consistency. Typical applications include: Doorbell & Access Control, Security & Surveillance, Industrial Inspection, Drone Imaging, Vehicle Camera, Scanner/Reader, Digital Signage, Smart Locker, and Face ID Terminals.
These MIPI CSI-2 camera modules typically use an FPC tail/connector for flexible mechanical routing. The sensor is configured via I2C/SCCB, while image data is streamed over MIPI CSI-2. Key selection points include resolution/frame rate, CSI-2 lane count and data rate, output format (RAW/YUV), power rails and timing, lens/FOV, module outline & mounting holes, stack height, FPC length, pinout/connector type, and filter options such as IR-cut or IR-pass.
MAXEN supports OEM/ODM customization and platform matching across mechanics, optics, and electrical definitions, with controlled BOM and process management to ensure stable image performance, repeatable integration, and long-term supply.
